Funk Monk is quite interesting funk band, but it’s a pity, that I can’t find any useful information about this group. I’ve just got to know that Red Hot Chili Peppers, Fishbone and many other bands also originated their music-styles from funk. It turned out that almost a century ago this word - “funk” - was considered to be very rude and impolite, but later it developed in a powerful and pupular style. Of course, very often you can get confused whether some band plays funk or, for example, R&B (they have a lot of similar elements, but nowadays R&B bacame more pupular). Besides, very often hip-hop artists just copy some funk tunes. Actually, funk is a mixture of soul music, soul jazz and R&B into a very rhythmic and danceable music. I remember, when we danced break, we also used funk. Anyway, Funk Monk’s “Beach Bongo” is worth downloading. Bongo sounds great!
